Fastening Systems

ALCOA fastening systems provide various connection methods to meet varied technical requirements. For strength levels 4.6~10.9, there are bearing rivets, friction joints, bearing joints, and tension joints; and for types of fasteners, we have everything from high pressure self-locking bolts and hole-filling blind rivets, to axial force-type blind bolts and general fastening rivets. We have also been introducing the weld-less connection method far and wide.

Blind Fasteners (Rivets & Bolts)

Blind Fasteners: Divided into the types listed below.
  • (Eyelet) Rivet: Rivet that won't fill the current main type of hole (Figure 1)
  • Hole-filling Rivet: Fills the same type of hole as a hot rivet(Figure 2)
  • Wide-bearing Rivet: High-strength, holds materials down with large inner and outer surfaces(Figure 3)
  • Axial Force-type Blind Bolt: It's tightening power is about 1/2 of its tensile strength(Figure 4)
  • ((Blind Type: One-side work can be done from the working side, hole-fill: rivet hole-filling type))

Lockbolt

Known as mechanical welding overseas, it's used as an alternative to traditional welding. Uses: Fighter jets, military vehicles, rock vibration sifters, crushing machines, electrostatic dust collectors, auto-warehouse space framework trasses, Shinkansen (Bullet Train), truck frames, rail joints, etc.(Figure 5)

Normally, friction joint(Ex:2-pc. lock bolt/high axial tension type) method is used.

Diagram The technologies provided by ALCOA fastening systems attempt to cut down on the effects of workmanship as much as possible. We make it so that with about 30 minutes of practice, you can properly work on the assembly line. For example, with aircraft, positively non-loosening, perfectly tight fastenings are required, and HUCK is the top brand in this industry. Our mission is to introduce and provide non-welding construction methods. These include stable axial tightening methods, one-way construction tightening methods, and more, and are tightening methods which cut down on the effects of the human element as much as possible. As for the merits of non-welding construction, the HUCK bolt crafting technique renders welding time, spatter removal, and paint touch-ups unnecessary. It also dramatically reduces work time: by cutting 20 seconds off of factory work which costs 2~4 yen/sec., not only is the cost reduced by 40~80 yen, but actual daily production output can be greatly improved while also ensuring product quality.
